Abstract/Summary
AC archaeology was commissioned by Hutton Nichols and Partners to carry out an archaeological assessment of the area of a proposed extension to Harper House, Hound Street, Sherborne. A single evaluation trench measuring 7metres by 1 metre was excavated, demonstrating that well-preserved, stratified medieval remains ranging from the 12th to the 14th century in date survive within the proposed development area. This sequence includes evidence that appears to pre-date the earliest documentary records for Hound Street.
