SDO21236 - Land off Birchdale Road, Wimborne Minster, Dorset: An Archaeological Evaluation Report

OASIS: The evaluation was carried out in accordance with the WSI comprising the excavation of nine out of a proposed ten trenches measuring 30m x 1.8m. Project Results: The evaluation was carried out in accordance with the WSI and demonstrated good conditions for the preservation of archaeological resources. A low level of archaeological activity was recorded in trenches 2, 7 and 10. The only datable feature was a refuse pit in trench 2 with pottery of Neolithic to Iron Age date, shallow pits/ post holes in trench 7 and a ditch in trench 10 remaining undated. The evaluation proved that while some archaeological resources are present on the Site no pattern or specific activities can be identified.
