SDO20965 - Milborne St Andrew Pipeline, Milborne St Andrew, Dorset. Gradiometer Survey Report

‘A gradiometer survey was conducted over land south of the A354, some 0.25km southwest of the centre of Milborne St Andrew, Dorset. The project was commissioned by AC Archaeology with the aim of establishing the presence, or otherwise, and nature of detectable archaeological features on the site ahead of proposed development. The site is located on a gentle east facing slope on the western edge of Milborne St Andrew, some 13.25km northeast of the centre of Dorchester. The survey area measures approximately 3.9ha and of this a total of 2.35ha has been covered by geophysical survey. Two clear pits have been detected along with some scattered, weaker responses of possible archaeological interest. Other responses detected include numerous agricultural features, trends of uncertain origin and at least one modern service. The survey was undertaken by the Lefort Geophysics survey team between the 31st of October and the 4th of November 2022.’
