SDO17129 - Lulworth Castle, Dorset

An area to the west of the Castle was surveyed using a magnetometer to test whether any evidence of past occupation or any other response of archaeological significance could be obtained. A site proposed for a car park was investigated by resistivity meter to check for the presence of any stone footings which might indicate that this was the site of a former manor house. The resistivity survey produced strong anomalies which could indicate debris from a building or group of buildings. Modern disturbance may have an effect. Magnetometer survey produced no clear evidence and was inconclusive.
