SDO16667 - Geophysical Survey at Waddon, Dorset

Report on geophysical survey of three areas to the west and south-west of Waddon, in connection with a Time Team television programme. Area 1 investigated a tentative circular earthwork / aerial photographic feature, but the geophysical results are inconclusive, apart from indicating that the site is not associated with settlement activity due to the lack of magnetic enhancement. In Area 2 both the resistance and magnetic surveys provided evidence for former buildings along the western road leading into Waddon. The results from the septic tank site, Area 3, were largely disturbed by modern features that made recognition of any archaeological anomalies impossible.
