SDO16579 - Binnegar Quarry, Southern Extension, Binnegar Lane, Wareham, Dorset Area B2 (Phases 1B and 1C). Archaeological Excavation

This report documents the results of an excavation and watching brief carried out in 2017 and 2018 at Binnegar Quarry. No pre-modern archaeological features were encountered within the stripped area. The large feature towards the south of the excavated area, feature 1, resembles a naturally occurring erosion feature such as a Rill of a Gully which has silted up after an organic rich brown had been deposited within the base. There appeared to be remains of ruts left by a heavy tracked vehicle in the parallel linea features 2 and 3. This proposed to be from millitary training, previous gravel extraction or forestry.
