Abstract/Summary
This report documents the results of an archaeological field evaluation carried out at Quarry 4, Blacklands, Dorset.
This work was conducted on behald of Mr Simon Hart, Lovell Purbeck Ltd and commissioned by Mr Nick Dunn of Lnad and Mineral Magment Ltd.
A desk-based study and evaluation had detaled the archaeological background for the site. The summary details the Blacklands quarry - to the west of the site under evaluation in this record - and the archaeological evidence recovered from the 1940s revealed Iron Age and Roman occupation.
The general objectives of the project were to excvate and record all archaeological deposits and features within the areas affected by the extraction.
While no archaeological features were recorded, surface finds of three flints recovered from previous archaeological work show prehistoric and Roman actvity within the surrounding area.
