Abstract/Summary
Archaeological monitoring and recording were undertaken during groundworks for a new agricultural building. The area concerned was near the site of a medieval fortified manor dating from the 15th century and was stripped to the natural subsoil. Pits, postholes and ditches were revealed, some being prehistoric and some early Roman in date. Finds included Beaker pottery of early Bronze Age date, a large part of a Late Bronze Age vessel, Early Roman pottery and an assemblage of worked flints including a wide range of tool types dating from the Late Mesolithic to the Bronze Age. There were also an Early Bronze Age muller stone and an early Roman nail.
