Title | Kimmeridge LAND, Kimmeridge Bay, Purbeck, Dorset. Archaeological Monitoring during Erection of a Sculpture |
Author/Originator | Bellamy, P |
Date/Year | 2015 |
Terrain Archaeology | 53432/3/1 |
Abstract/Summary
‘Terrain Archaeology monitored the erection of a sculpture on the 1858 Wanostrocht & Co. pier within the Scheduled Monument at Kimmeridge Bay. The sculpture is part of Anthony Gormley’s LAND project, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Landmark Trust. No damage was caused to the monument and no new archaeology was exposed. The overall impact on the historic fabric of the monument was negligible, but it has created a new chapter in the cultural history of the scheduled monument.’
