Title | Nunnery Mead, Frampton, Dorset; A Geophysical Survey |
Author/Originator | Dave Stewart |
Date/Year | 2018 |
Abstract/Summary
Licensed by English Heritage, a geophysical survey using magnetometry, earth resistivity and ground penetrating radar was carried out on the field known as Nunnery Mead which is owned by Dorset Wildlife Trust. The survey pinpointed the location of a Roman Building excavated in the eighteenth century, georeferenced the drawing of mosaics made at that time and identified further remains. The latter suggested that the building may have been a tripartite corridor villa rather than a temple complex as originally thought.
