Abstract/Summary
Stratascan were commissioned to undertake a geophysical survey of an area outlined for development, as part of an archaeological investigation being undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology. The survey area consisted of 61ha made up of two large fields of sloping arable land. A previous desk-based assessment had suggested that there was high potential for below-ground archaeological remains. The magnetic gradiometer survey identified a number of enclosures of probable archaeological origin and possibly related to prehistoric settlement or farmstead activity. A circular feature which may be a barrow was also identified. Most of the anomalies with the most potential were found on the higher ground of the site on either side of a small valley.
