Abstract/Summary

The objectives of this work were to monitor the site by observation and recording as the footings for a new building were dug (Ref Planning Application 6/2007/0336). The site is located about 1.5 km from the centre of Wareham and situated on the western approaches to the town (ST 87299014) and is within the Worgret Heath Barrow Group. Fieldwork was undertaken on 24th April and 2nd May 2009 and involved observation of the digging of foundation trenches for a house extension. No archaeological features were visible in any of the trenches. A few artefacts were recovered from the resulting spoil. A total of 13 objects were catalogued and apart from one piece of worked flint, all dated from the late 19th to the 20th century.
