SDO14731 - Green Island: geophysical survey

'While a few anomalies of potential archaeological interest were identified, indicating pits and ditch lengths, it was impossible to say whether they were part of a settlement or industrial complex due to the limited size of the survey areas. A number of magnetic anomalies of a strength and form typical of those associated with small scale industrial activity were located during the survey. However, it transpired that the open areas of land had been cleared of vegetation, bulldozed and then burnt. This ‘landscaping’ was responsible for the anomalous readings, not Iron Age metalworking activity.'
