Abstract/Summary

In 2004 English Heritage undertook an archaeological investigation and analytical field survey of the Ackling Dyke, the well preserved agger of a Roman road, where it passes through Puddletown Forest, at the request of the Inspector of Ancient Monuments. Tree felling and shrub clearance was both threatening the earthworks and creating opportunities for survey and for better management of the monument. The earthworks are described in detail and discussed.
