Abstract/Summary

Observations and recording during groundworks for new services were carried out in September and October 2011. The observations revealed four medieval or early post-medieval uncoffined human burials near the North Porch, and a skull potentially belonging to a fifth uncoffined burial was noted immediately northwest of the West Tower. Several episodes of levelling and dumping were recorded around the western end of the church and may be associated with different phases of alteration of the building in the 16th and 19th centuries. The service trenching was not sufficiently deep to establish with any certainty whether undisturbed graveyard soils underlie the dumped deposits.
