Title Archaeological monitoring of a new water main at the Old Castle, Sherborne, Dorset
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2009
Exeter Archaeology EA 6765

Abstract/Summary

Observations and recording during excavation of a trench for a new water main revealed a heavily mixed layer with a small amount of building rubble throughout the trench. The author suggests that this may have been created from the stripping of the interior and dismantling of part of the castle following the second siege of the castle in 1645.
