Abstract/Summary
‘Wardell Armstrong Archaeology (WAA) was commissioned by Lightsource Renewable Energy Ltd to undertake an archaeological evaluation at Littleton Solar Farm, Blandford St Mary, Dorset (NGR ST 8840 0504). This work follows a planning application for the construction of a solar farm.
The archaeological evaluation was undertaken over ten days between the 17th November and 28th November 2014. The evaluation involved the excavation of twenty-nine trenches, totalling 1962m2. Trenches were located to target specific features and blank areas identified during a previous geophysical survey. No archaeological remains were noted during the evaluation and it was established that the anomalies identified during the geophysical survey were the result of undulations in the upper surface of the bedrock and post-medieval and modern agricultural activity and landscape divisions.’
