Title | Warmwell Quarry, West Knighton, Dorset: 1991. An Archaeological Evaluation |
Author/Originator | Bevan, L, and Sterenberg, J |
Date/Year | 1991 |
Birmingham University Field Archaeology Unit | 187 |
Abstract/Summary
Report presents the results of a supplementary archaeological evaluation carried out by BUFAU, comprising the topsoil-stripping and gridded manual cleaning of two larger areas within the site, both of which corresponded with previously identified concentrations of prehistoric struck flint.
Whilst a number of subsoil features were investigated, these were shown to be either geological in origin, or to be three-throw holes which contained no struck flint: The relationship between the surface scatters of flint and flint tools and any surviving prehistoric activity remains was therefore not resolved.
