Abstract/Summary

‘Wessex Archaeology was commissioned by Southern Electric plc to carry out an archaeological watching brief during works to replace overhead cable support poles in land to the south-west of Wool, Dorset (centred on NGR SY 836 858). A section of the proposed work was located within the known site of a Romano-British settlement which is designated as a Scheduled Monument (County Monument No. 756). The watching brief was undertaken in July 1996. No features or deposits of archaeological significance were observed. The archive is currently stored at the offices of Wessex Archaeology at Old Sarum, Salisbury, under the site code W2248, but will be deposited at Dorset County Museum, Dorchester, in due course.’
