‘In February 1998 Wessex Archaeology undertook an archaeological evaluation on behalf of Fidei Holdings Limited, through their agents Symonds & Sampson, at land at Lower Cross, Hinton St Mary, Dorset (centred on OS Grid Ref. ST 7850 1604). The site lay adjacent to the Hinton St Mary Roman villa … The machine excavated trench was located across the footprint of the proposed building. No archaeological features or deposits were located. The trench was backfilled at the conclusion of the work.’
