Abstract/Summary
Report presents the results of an archaeological evaluation comprising a site walkover inspection and the excavation of a series of manual augur holes in four separate transects across the floodplain of the River StourThe walkover produced no new archaeological information and the augur survey indicated a consistent profile of soils over fluvial clays and (at greater depth) gravels. One of the augur holes revealed a localised organic-rich soil horizon in the south western corner of the site: two areas of disturbed ground are believed to be post-medieval or recent in date.
