Abstract/Summary
A programme of archaeological monitoring on groundworks for an extension and ancillary structures was carried out at the property of Hillfort House, Poundbury Road, Dorchester, Dorset, centred on NGR 368245 090972, (the property is adjacent to the boundary of the Scheduled Ancient Monument of Poundbury Camp UID 12501). Previous development on this site, beginning in the 1920s and again in the 1980s, has resulted in the original ground level in the north-eastern half of the site being considerably reduced. In the south-western end of the site some building-up of the ground surface has taken place through the redeposition of chalk and soil.
Groundworks were monitored by Wessex Archaeology, during which time no significant archaoelogy was identified. The watching brief monitoring took, place from 21st - 22nd January 2014.
