Title | The Old Vicarage, Charminster, near Dorchester, Dorset. Archaeological Desk-based Assessment |

Abstract/Summary
A desk-based archaeological assessment (including a site visit) was carried out in order to collate existing archaeological and historical information for a proposed development site at Charminster (centred on SY 6815 9263), at the junction of Vicarage Lane and Mill Lane.
Though the surrounding landscape is rich in archaeological remains of most periods, and Charminster is a village of medieval if not Saxon origins, there appears to be no direct evidence for archaeological remains within the proposal area. It is likely, however, that the site was located on the edge of the medieval village.
