Abstract/Summary
An archaeological evaluation of 1,250 square metres of land (centred on NGR SY 72898666) was conducted in November 1995 to the north of Broadmayne Church, Broadmayne, Dorset in response to a planning application to extend the churchyard. The excavation of three trenches revealed the remains of a field system of medieval date. These fields probably lay to the rear of medieval building plots fronting onto the present street. Quantities of residual Romano-British pottery were recovered from the site attesting to nearby activity of that date.
