Abstract/Summary
Context One Archaeological Services Ltd (COAS) carried out an archaeological Watching Brief at Queen Elizabeth's School, Wimborne Minster, Dorset (hereafter referred to as the Site) over six days between the 18th of February and 7th of March 2008. The investigation was commissioned and funded by Dorset County Council.
The Watching Brief was requested by the Local Planning Authority (East Dorset District Council) … as a condition of granting permission to redevelop the site for various sports pitches as part of the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) One School, Pathfinder Programme.
No archaeological remains/deposits were observed and no archaeological finds were recovered during the course of the Watching Brief. However, the Site was found to have undergone considerable levelling during construction of the school, which mayhave truncated, obscured or destroyed any existing archaeological remains.
