Title | An Archaeological Evaluation of the Proposed Development of Land Adjacent to the Crown Hotel, Blandford, Dorset |
Author/Originator | Cox, P and Robinson, S |
Date/Year | 1996 |

Abstract/Summary
The archaeological evaluation of this proposed development site involved the recording of four machine-excavated trenches. In all cases there was substantial modern infilling or disturbance in the upper levels. All trenches revealed underlying alluvial deposits. There was no evidence for archaeological features cut into this material and no pre-modern artefacts were recovered. Evidence for the presumed line of a former Medieval street, indicated on a seventeenth century map, was absent from the area investigated. The archaeological potential of the area is therefore considered to be low.
