Abstract/Summary
Context One Archaeological Services carried out archaeological observations and recording for Wessex Water plc during reinstatement of a redundant sludge storage lagoon. The site is adjacent to Combs Ditch, a scheduled monument (Scheduled Monument Dorset No 764), and it was thought that the original construction of the lagoon may have affected the monument. Re-instatement works did not expose the bank of Combs Ditch or any associated deposits. No finds were recovered. The author notes that, since it was not necessary to remove all the excess spoil from the lagoon along the bank of the monument, this section remains concealed by a modern deposit of chalk spoil.
