Abstract/Summary
AC archaeology undertook an archaeological evaluation of the site of the proposed new village hall and museum at Kimmeridge during July and August 2008. Three trenches and two trial pits were dug . Extensive evidence of medieval activity was encountered in two of the trenches, including wall foundations and a significant quantity of twelfth to thirteenth-century pottery in a buried soil horizon. A trench and two test-pits were dug on the site of the existing village hall, and encountered only probably eighteenth to twentieth-century activity.
