Author/Originator | Adkins L and Adkins R |
Date/Year | 1996 |
Abstract/Summary
An archaeological watching brief on intermittent topsoil stripping and excavation of foundation and service trenches was carried out at Glebe Land, Barnes Lane, Beaminster, Dorset, from 14th Novemebr1995 to 15th January 1996. Excavations were carried out by a JCB-type mechanical excavator, and conditions for observing archaeological features during this type of operation were, for the most part, good. No archaeological features were observed but the presence of 19th-20th century field drains was noted. A number of sherds of Post-Medieval pottery was also noted. A number of sherds of Post-Medieval pottery were recovered, and the presence of other finds of late Post-Medieval date was also noted. The finds probably represent either accidental loss, or deliberate discard of items regarded as rubbish.
