Abstract/Summary
A trial excavation during November 1982 in advance of development investigated the area adjacent to a scheduled Bronze Age round barrow (AM 821) where air photographs indicated possible ring ditch crop marks. Two almost radial machine trenches 22m long and 1.1m wide were cut in the SE quadrant from the barrow edge outwards. A small trench 5m long and 1.1m wide was also excavated 51m north of the barrow centre. No evidence of occupation or ring ditches was found in any of the trenches. The excavation was financed by grants from the Department of the Environment and the Dorset Archaeological Committee.
