Abstract/Summary
Southern Archaeological Services Ltd conducted a desktop assessment of the known archaeology of the area around Bridge Street Island, Christchurch, using documentary sources held in various archives, as part of the archaeological evaluation of the site of a proposed flood defence scheme by the National Rivers Authority. The assessment showed that no specific use of the site itself has been recorded, but there are a number of significant archaeological sites in the vicinity.
