Full Description

Bowl barrow. Diam 16 paces; height 3ft. <2>

Grinsell recorded this barrow as 16 paces in diameter and 3 feet high. <3>

Bowl barrow, 14.5m in diam & 1.1m high. No certain traces of a ditch. Heather covered, in fair condition; surmounted by a boundary post and fence. <4>

No change: published NSL 1:2500 survey correct. <5>

A truncated barrow 12 metres diameter and approx 1 metre high, with a slightly hollowed top some 5 metres across. An iron girder boundary marker and a large fence post are inserted in the apparent centre
of the mound at SZ 1326397250. <6>

The barrow is visible on 1940s aerial photographs but is not clearly distinct <8>. It may be up to 16m wide but its edges are not clearly defined. A trackway leads into the feature on its northeast side and this may have caused or exaggerated the slightly hollow at its centre.

The feature is under scrubby vegetation on the edge of the tree line on current Google Earth imagery and is still visible. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
