Full Description
A 3ft. 9 in. gauge tramway carrying clay across the heath from Norden (SY 9582) to Goathorn Pier (SZ 016863) ceased to be used for through traffic in 1936. A 1 1/2 mile length from the pier to Newton Clay Works (SZ 012847) survived for a short time, and four miles at the Norden end were retained, being rebuilt in 1948 to a gauge of 1 ft. 11 1/2 in. None is now in use. (St John Thomas 1973)
