Full Description
AD 833. This year King Egbert fought against the men of thirty-five ships at Charmouth, and there was a great slaughter made and the Danish men maintained possession of the field (Charmouth SY 3693). (1) Information as above. Carrum of Anglo-Saxon Chronicle identified as Charmouth. (For alternative site, based on more modern interpretation of Carrum as Carhampton in Somerset, see ST 04 SW 24).
