Full Description

A broken bronze celt found in a barrow near the Kings Barrow (see SY 98 NW 11) on Stowborough Heath (Stoborough Heath) has a socketed top and loop. <1>

About 1835 a small barrow near the Kings Barrow was opened and twenty-five celts were discovered. <2>

Two bronze celts taken from a small barrow adjoining the Kings Barrow, Stowborough, in 1833. (The photo opposite p.153 shows these two implements to be bronze socketed axes; one with a loop).(3) The possible barrow discovered at SY 91918593, (see SY 98 NW 11), which is in the same garden as the Kings Barrow could be the findspot of the bronze axes mentioned above. <4>
