Full Description
The symbol for a church is shown as existing at Slepe (possibly in the area SY 9786) on Hutchins reproduction of Ralph Treswells Map of the Isle of Purbeck circa 1585-6 - scale about 3/4 to 1 mile. No further information has been obtained regarding the site, but there was evidently a hunting lodge here (see SY 98 NE 13) associated with the Royal Forest of Purbeck (see SY 98 SE 69), which might be of significance. <2>
