Full Description
Cuckoo Pen (depicted on Ordnance Survey maps as an oval mound) is usually a jocular (field) name alluding to the folk-tale of penning the cuckoo to prevent the passing of summer, but possibly the allusion is to cuckolding. (Mills 1977)
