Full Description

Tyneham House, an ashlar and rubble built building of two storeys, partly with attics and cellars, has a south west wing of 14th century origin and contains parts of the original hall with arched-braced collar beam and trusses, built by the Russel family. The hall was divided into two floors in the later 16th century with the addition of a new doorway and windows. The main range of the house facing east was built in 1583 and soon after a new kitchen wing was added to the north west; in the 17th century this wing was nearly doubled in width. The east part of the south west wing was rebuilt in 1820 and the main range widened to the west. The north porch is mid 19th century. <2-3>
