Full Description

Dorset County Chronicle and the Southern Gazette 1/5/1845 also has an account of the ;loss of a large smack in Portland race. the Swallow. This is followed the next week (8/5) of a confirmation in the Weymouth section then the week after (15/5) 2 pieces p3 and the Weymouth section as there was loss of life. The sinking was possibly on the 26th. (1)

The building date for this vessel is an estimate based on an average age at wrecking of twenty years. This average is derived from those vessels wrecked on the Dorset coast whose age at wrecking is known.
