Summary

Yacht wrecked off Anvil Point, 1 December 1990. 1990 wreck of an unregistered British Eclipse, type 43 sailing yacht which struck an unknown object while being delivered to Plymouth, was holed, leaked and foundered 1 mile SSW of Anvil Point. A sailing vessel with auxiliary engine this type of yacht was only introduced in 1989.

Full Description

While charted by the UK Hydrographic Office as the BARCAROLLE, 'entire wreck' in the approximate position 50°34.36N, 001°57.74W, in a general depth of 29m, the record of her position was amended to 'DEAD' after she could not be located by multi-beam in a 209 survey. (1)

'An unregistered yacht No.3035, an Eclipse type 43. Struck unknown object whilst on delivery passage, was holed, taken in tow by the Swanage lifeboat but sank ' Wreck lies in a general depth of 29m.' (2)

An unregistered yacht No 3035, an Eclipse type 43, struck an unknown object whilst on delivery passage, was holed, taken in tow by the Swanage lifeboat, but sank 3 miles SE of Durlston head. Wreck lies in general depth of 29 metrres. (2)
