"The Frederick Sophia Jorgenson from Portsground, coming into this Harbour ran aground on a Sand called the Long-Ball, a little to the westward of the Bar; but if the weather holds moderate, it is hoped, by taking out part of her Cargo she will be got off" The Long Ball is a sandbank to the west of Poole Bar. From an unidentified eighteenth century press cutting.(1)

The building date for this vessel is an estimate based on an average age at wrecking of twenty years. This average is derived from those vessels wrecked on the Dorset coast whose age at wrecking is known.
