Full Description
Unidentified circular features visible on a 1940s aerial photographs (1).
A group of four dispersed circular features are visible as earthwork depressions on aerial photographs of Arne Hill taken in 1947 (2-3). They are considered likely to be the remains of bomb craters associated with Second World War activity in this area. They were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). Some of these features are still visible on the most recent comprehensive imagery available to the project (4), the remainder being obscured under dense vegetation cover.
