Unidentified circular features visible on a 1940s AP (1).

A group of five circular depressions are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of Arne Heath taken in 1942 (2) and 1947 (3). They are considered likely to be the remains of bomb craters associated with Second World War activities in this area. These features were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). They are not visible on the most recent comprehensive imagery available to the project (4), the are now being under forestry plantation.
