Full Description

A Roman Brooch was found in Sept. 1936, whilst digging the garden of No.60 Mount Pleasant Avenue. Its present whereabouts is not known. Mrs Waugh pointed out the site of this find, which is now under cultivation. There were no further finds. <1>

"Radipole, Weymouth; SY 670814. As (local copy) of Claudius, much worn. Almost certainly the common Minerva reverse, and a grade 1 imitation similar to the Dorset County Museum example figured by Sutherland. In the possession of Mr R J Blanchflower, who found it some years ago in laying out his garden at 64 Mount Pleasant Avenue, (SY 66998142: OS 1/2500 1956). Oyster shells were also found…." <3>
