Fairy Battle K9230, lost off Hengistbury Head, 28/4/41 (1)
Crashed in sea off Hengistbury Head, pilot drowned (2)
Christchurch Times reports that on 28.4.41 a Fairey Battle aircraft crashed in the sea off Hengistbury Head; the pilot bailed out but was drowned by his parachute despite a brave rescue attempt by an Army Officer who swam out to him.(3)
