Full Description
A Heinkel III lost off Charmouth, 14/8/40 (1)
At 10.30 hours a Heinkel III plane was forced down into the sea on the 14th August 1940, off Charmouth nr. Lyme Regis. The crew of four baled out. Two were rescued and detained at Lyme Regis Police station, one dead body was recovered from the sea later. (2)
A German Heinkel He111 that was part of Squadron 8/KG27. It was shot down by Hurricanes from Squadron Number 213 whilst en route to bomb Hawarden airfield. It crashed off Charmouth. (3)
