Circular features visible in saltmarsh at Arne, seen on aerial photographs taken in 2002 (1)

A group of dispersed circular features are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of Crichton's Heath taken in 1947 (2). They are considered likely to be the remains of bomb craters associated with Second World War activity in this area. These features was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). They are still visible as earthworks on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project (3).
