Full Description
An old chalk pit marked on the first edition of the Ordnance Survey map (1). Also marked on the second edition Ordnance Survey map (2). The pit is also marked on the 1840 Tithe Map (3).
A pit is visible at this location on Lidar imagery (4). It is considered likely this is the remains of the post medieval chalk pit described above. This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
