Old chalk pit marked on the first edition OS map. A pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs to the south-east of Newlands Farm. It is considered likely to be the remains of the post medieval chalk pit described above.

Old chalk pit marked on the first edition OS map (1), also marked on the second edition (2).

A pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs to the south-east of Newlands Farm (3). It is considered likely to be the remains of the post medieval chalk pit described above. This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). It is still visible as a cropmark on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project.
