An old chalk pit marked on the first edition OS map, also on the second edition map (1).

A post medieval chalk pit is visible as an earthwork on Lidar imagery of Chaldon Down (2). This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
